Meet Dwayne

Dwayne Roberts

Born and raised in Calgary, Canada, Dwayne graduated from high school and entered full-time missions at 19 years old. While serving in Amsterdam, Holland, he began dating Jennifer, and shortly after, they married and began a life of ministry together. Over the years, they have ministered side by side across continents, sharing a deep commitment to Jesus and faithfully following His call on their lives. They are the proud parents of three adult children: Sydney, born in Budapest, Hungary. She is married to JesusisLord(JL) and together they have a beautiful daughter, Amara. Chloe, born in Kansas City, now lives in Kansas City and works in productivity training. Elijah, was also born in Kansas City and at this time is a program studying the scriptures abroad.

Having lived in five countries and traveled to over fifty, Dwayne has spent a lifetime at the intersection of spirituality, church, ministry, culture, and pioneering leadership. From a young age, he was drawn to initiatives that pushed boundaries and broke new ground, participating in several formative ministries across different continents.

In his twenties, he dedicated a decade to Youth With A Mission (YWAM), including six years in Amsterdam before being a founding team member of a new YWAM base in Budapest, Hungary. This season laid the foundation for a lifelong calling marked by global perspective, discipleship, and spiritual leadership.

In 1998, he relocated to Kansas City, Missouri, where he became a founding member and pioneering leader of the International House of Prayer (IHOPKC). One of his most formative roles was serving as director of Onething, a young adult conference ministry that drew tens of thousands annually. The gatherings became catalytic spaces for worship, vision, and spiritual renewal for many.

In 2013, Dwayne and Jennifer moved to Brazil, where they planted a church and established a prayer room. What began as a pioneering work has since grown into a vibrant and mature spiritual community. Today, it stands as a national reference point for worship and teaching, with its message and expression of worship influencing churches and leaders across Brazil.

After returning to the United States from overseas, he pastored a local church in Denver, Colorado, navigating the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and the political crisis of 2020. These years catalyzed a deeper personal wrestling with the nature and future of the Church in a rapidly shifting culture.

In 2021, Dwayne and Jennifer returned to Kansas City and began pioneering a network of house churches. A year and a half into that initiative, painful truths began to surface about Mike Bickle and some of the IHOPKC leadership. Dwayne stepped into the difficult role of confronting the decades-long systemic sin of Mike Bickle and the ripple effect it had on the ministry. This was the previous ministry with which he served for 14 years. As a courageous whistleblower, he was instrumental in exposing sexual and spiritual abuse within the organization, advocating for justice, transparency, and healing on behalf of survivors and all those impacted by the ministry.
