It’s time to humble ourselves

Author: Jennifer Roberts

This past week has left me stunned

2021 is still crazy!

I am writing this the week after the breach on the capitol building and I’m still stunned. I’m stunned because we are more vulnerable than I thought we were as a nation. I’m stunned because of the great divide that continues to hemorrhage in our country and I’m stunned because of all the chatter, debating, and confusion over facts.

But, I’m also grieved. Grieved because the church is fighting itself, grieved because we are angry and not broken. Grieved because prayer doesn’t grip us. Grieved because social media is a land mine right now. Grieved because being offended is called passion and I am grieved because the name of Jesus is muddied and is being used to endorse goofiness.

I’m not a world leader or a major voice in society, my Instagram following is modest and my impact is limited. But my voice matters and I’m using my voice by lifting it up in prayer. I’m not trying to be inspirational, I’m being honest my ONLY hope is Jesus and talking to him.

It’s time to humble ourselves

2 Chronicles 7:14

“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

Notice the word “IF’. It’s time to humble ourselves, not just process our way into peace, but get on our knees and pray! I want to posture myself before the uncreated God and SEEK His face with a repentant heart. Then He will HEAR, FORGIVE, and HEAL our land. Pray is powerful and not outdated or weak. It is critical and the most effective way to move forward.
